The nuclear membrane of Triturus oocytes was spread flat on E. M. grids, fixed in 2% OsO4, dried, and shadowed with Cr. The membrane consists of a continuous sheet with raised annuli scattered on the cytoplasmic side. The annuli, 1200 A in diam., are made of smaller spheres 400 A in diam. Over certain areas the annuli occur in clusters visible with the light microscope.
