The field of intracellular traffic is celebrating the awarding of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to three of its most distinguished scientists--James Rothman, Randy Schekman, and Thomas Sudhof--for their discoveries on the molecular mechanisms of vesicular transport. Their outstanding achievements serve as inspiration for the next generation of scientists to continue the task of uncovering new principles of intracellular compartmentalization and dynamics.
