Summ αη ，:Th e “ Dietary Reference Intakes for ]apanese (2015)" is issued by the Ministry of Health ， La bour and Welfare ， in accordance with the Health Promotion La w. Th ey represent the standards for optimal intakes of energy and nutrients ， as well as the basics required for maintenance and promotion of health of the ]apanese population.τ 'h e current version has been revised in order to take into account the requirements for “ prevention of progression of lifestyl e- related diseases" ，血 e"target BMI range" and the "PDCA (plan ， do ， check ， act) cycle for application". Based on the current standards ， health professionals ， especially dietitians ， should set concrete objectives for application ， and select the most appropriate method for assessment of dietary status.
