Redox reactions of dodecacarbonyltetrarhodium(0), Rh-4(CO)(12), with 9,10-phenanthraquinone derivatives gave novel one-dimensional rhodium(I)-semiquinonato complexes. Two typical linear chain structures with direct Rh-Rh contacts were determined by X-ray crystal structure analyses of the compounds.
