This special issue contains articles focusing on emerging issues in the evidence-based practice debate in the fields of behavioural health care and education. The purpose of this issue is to expand the scope of discussion about evidence-based practices and related methodological and practical implications among both researchers and practitioners. Special attention is devoted to the relatively new phenomenon of evidence-based programme registers, which are intended to guide policy-makers, programme administrators and practitioners in identifying, selecting, and administering programmes based on scientific criteria of effectiveness.
