ResultsAs established in recent experimental and theoretical studies (8-11), epicardial potentials reflect the interaction between the activation front and the architecture of myocardial fibers. For paced or ectopic beats, the epicardial potential patterns mirror the direction of myocardial fibers through which excitation is spreading (Fig. 1). Taking advantage of this relationship, the noninvasively reconstructed epicardial potentials are used to characterize activity in the depth of the myocardial wall.
