Extensive resorption of the mandible was discovered in a 62 year old woman who had been adding a home reliner to her lower denture for eight years. She had not added reliner to her upper denture, and no significant change in the con tour of the upper ridge had occurred. The promotion and sale o f materials that patients can add to their own illfitting dentures to prolong their use is not in the public interest because serious damage such as that described in this report may ensue.
