RESULTS To test the reproducibility of the results obtained with the present equipment and to determine normal values for future studies, endothelial permeability to fluorescein was measured in both eyes of 10 normal albino rabbits weighing two to three kg. The average value for K,,, the transfer coefficient from cornea to aqueous, was 0.41 kO. 047, O/o/minute. Both eyes in each animal were similar, with a mean difference between them of O@%/minute of the larger value. Neither eye was consistently higher. Ten normal young volunteers, ages 21 to 24 years, were tested to determine the endothelial permeability constant of the young healthy cornea. The average K,, was 0.48+-0.06%/minute. The difference between the two eyes was O. O3%/minute. The difference between the eyes did not exceed O. OQ%/minute. The average corneal thickness of this 45
