It was reported in the previous papers'-3 that N-(hydroxyethy1) amine rewts rapidly at room temperature with carboxylic acid ester to form an amide compound in the presence of a basic catalyst. Thus, N-(hydroxyethy1) polyamide was obtained from N, N'-(bishydroxyethy1) diamine with a carboxylic acid ester in alcohol solution at room temperature.
