In this paper we obtain some conditions necessary in order that the noncharacteristic Cauchy problem for hyperbolic operators with characteristic roots of variable multiplicity be correct in inductive and projective Gevrey classes; conditions for operators with characteristic roots of constant multiplicity were obtained in [1-3].
