Two frameshift mutations located at different genetic sites respond with high specificity to the same outside suppressors. These frameshifts contain similar altered (+1) messenger RNA sequences. In each case the suppressors appear to act by translating the altered (+1) mRNA sequence as the correct (0) sequence.
