THE pathogenesis of lymphomas in man is unknown. A variety of factors are associated with lymphoma induction in animals, including immuno-suppression, immune stimulation, autoimmunity, loss of suppressor T-lymphocyte function, retravirus infection, drugs and irradiation.1 2 3 Recently several workers have reported an association between graft-vs.-host disease, activation of endogenous C-type RNA viruses, autoimmunity and lymphomas in susceptible mice.4 , 5 In man, a spectrum of immune-related disorders have been associated with malignant lymphomas.
