Chemoattractants such as N-formyl peptides, cleavage product of the fifth component of complement (Ga), leukotriene B4 (LTBJ, platelet-activating factor (PAF), and crystal-induced chemotactic factor (CCF) stimulate a directed motile response in neutrophils and induce rapid and extensive changes in the cytoskeleton and contractile apparatus. These changes have been documented at both the morphological and biochemical levels for N-formyl peptide stimulation.
