This is a book for Managers who want to know what operational research is about, and for operational research workers who want to convince Managers that they need operational research. It is a difficult book to review without appearing too fulsome in one's praises. First, it is short-you can read it in an evening and it will interest you so much that you will want to read it again. Next, it is concise and well written. It is not technical, but covers by convincing argument in plain language all the questions a senior executive might ask when you try to sell operational research to him.
