Discusses the case of a mildly mentally retarded Japanese boy who at 4.5 yrs of age presented with fearfulness, compulsive behaviors, and obsessive beliefs, whose onset occurred at the birth of a sibling when S was 3 yrs old, precipitating a mental regression.
