The phenomenon or cavitation is described ror a horizontal pipe, whereby special attention is paid to the influences or the compressibility or water and of the force or gravity on the formation and spreading or a cavity. Starting rrom the general equations (that of continuity and both equations or motion), it has been possible to derive a system ofequations which have the same rorm inside, as well as outside the cavitation region. A numerical method has been developed, permitting a stepby-step solution of the equations obtained.
