Many argue that the last two decades have seen an all-encompassing process of globalisation, with far-reaching political consequences within the countries of the OECD world. So far, these consequences have been examined mainly with respect to the general principles2 and specific economic and social policies3 of the democratic welfare state. If addressed at all, the consequences of globalisation for security policies have been denied. 4 In this paper we will argue that the most
