The Old World flycatchers traditionally comprise those ten-primaried Oscines (twng-birds) that are adapted to capturing insects in the air during short flights from a perch.-Typically the bill is short and fiat, the gape wide and fringed with bristles, the wings are moderately long, and the: feet and legs rather small and weak. Most workers have treatEd them as a full family, the~ luscicapidae. Some recent work-en:, becau! le of difficulty in delimiting them from other ten· primaricd imcctivorel', combine the flycatchers with the warblers, thrushes, wrens, babblers, etc., into one large family.
