As part of a Canadian survey of 462 patients with Tourette Syndrome (TS), 193 adults provided employment-related information including employment status type of work, awareness of TS-related job discrimination, perceived TS influence on job choice, and level of job satisfaction. Respondents also provided information about academic background and behavioral problems in childhood A multiple regression analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between TS symptoms, TS related school problems and employment experiences in adulthood. The descriptive findings concerning employment corroborated the results of previous surveys conducted in the United States. The results of the multiple regression suggest the existence of a relationship between TS-related learning problems and job prestige, and between social problems in school and job choice. Significant relationships were also found between job choice and severity of TS symptoms. Finally, classic child behavior problems and hyperarousal symptoms were significantly linked to job satisfaction.
