A comparison of bulk, supported, contained and electrostatic pseudo- liquid membranes (BLM, SLM, CLM and ESPLIM) for metal separations is presented. Copper and rare earths were employed as model metals. The paper concludes with a technical comparison of the various liquid-membrane techniques.
