RANS methods and overlap grid are used to calculate the ship flow around with free surface.Computational grid is overlap grid pattern.The single phase Level Set method was used for the free surface treatment,the SST k-ω turbulence model,cell finite difference method and PISO algorithm were employed in viscous flow calculation with solving RANS equations.The mathematical model and solution of overlap grid and simulation method of single phase Level Set method were described briefly,too.Through the numerical solution with overlap grids and the comparison with experimental results for fix and free S60,catamaran and trimaran,the overlap grid can well simulate the viscous free-surface flow around the ship.the calculation results show that overlap grid and single phase Level-Set method can better simulate the viscous free-surface flow around a ship.
