A total of 20 dairy cows belonging to different lactation and different stages of milk production (I, II, III & IV), breeds (HF cross), with varying periods of parturition (minimum of two-and-half months) were chosen for the study. Two animals were taken as control and two animals for treatment in each of the groups. Animals’ in-groups (I-IV) were within 102 days post-calving and animals’ in-group V (4th lactation) were in 103-204 days post-calving. The interval between the administration of the drug and its effect on lactation was noted. Galactin was given at a dose of 50 g/ animal/day for 10 days. The animals chosen for the study had attained peak milk yield and were in the declining phase of milk production.
