ResultsOf 100 participants (56% female, 44% male; mean age at enrollment= 58.5 years, standard deviation= 15.0 years, range 19–90 years), 48 had ischemic strokes, and 52 had hemorrhagic strokes. Common comorbidities (reported by≥ 10% of participants) were hypertension (n= 84), diabetes (n= 23), history of stroke (n= 20), obesity (n= 19), and cigarette smoking (n= 11). Nineteen percent had received no education; 69% had received primary to some secondary school level of education; and 12% hadDiscussionWe present novel data on ApoE genotypes in a convenience cohort of Tanzanian stroke patients. We demonstrate the feasibility of the extraction, storage, and remote genomic analysis of stroke patients' whole blood samples, collected in a LMIC. Although 28 samples were unable to be analyzed, process improvements in extraction, handling, storage, and sample transfer could be undertaken to improve the yield of results in the future.
