Educators have declared better science teaching in the United States a top priority goal. Since the quality of teaching behaviors in general have been found to be related to the nature of teaching efficacy beliefs, the need for an adequate instrument with which to measure beliefs related specifically to the teaching of science would seem imperative. Since no existing instrument met this subject-specific need, this study's main objective was to produce the Science Teaching Efficacy Belief Instrument (STEBI) to fill the void.
