The child's older brother (aged 8 years) and oldest sister (aged 10years) had had a similar infestation for the past 4 months. Their infestation was limited to the eyelashes, eyebrows, and scalp. The distribution of the lice on the head was similar to that of the index patient. The siblings also had Pediculus humanus capitis coinfestation in spite of daily hair combing and bathing. The infection was brought to the family by the father, who infected his wife; she, in turn, transmitted it to the children through common bedding and clothes. The infestation about the eyewas easily eradicated by 20070 fluorescein dye. For the scalp infestation, a benzyl benzoate and DDT mixture (10: 1 vol/wt) lotion was applied and massaged in gently for 3 consecutive days with successful results.
