Such was the first hypothesis of glass structure suggested by Lebedev in 1921 which made physicists and chemists investigating the vitreous state worry and argue for several decades. This hypothesis first aroused a heretical for that time doubt in full homogeneity of glass and indicated the possibility of establishment of a relation between the structure of glass and its properties, the possibility to change the properties by changing the structure. At the Tenth International Congress on Glass in 1974 Zarzycki made a brilliant report/1/in which he suggested the hypothesis of a" domain structure" of vitreous silica. In 1972 Patel et al./2/came to the conclusion about the existence in glasses of regions of ordered silica with a density of 2.32 g/cm 3,
