Using an immunohistochemical technique at the electron microscopic level, we have observed that growth hormone-release inhibiting hormone (somatostatin), the hormone which inhibits the release of growth hormone, is contained in the secretory granules of many nerve endings mainly located in the external zone of the median eminence.
