The objective of the whole-spacecraft isolation is to reduce the launch-induced dynamic loads and the quality control costs of the satellite and its components, as well as increase the launch reliability. By insertion of isolators or the isolating payload attach fitting (PAF) between the satellite and the launch vehicle, the whole-spacecraft isolation system isolates the axial/lateral vibration without any change of the existing satellite hardware. This paper summarizes the progress in the past decade abroad and presents a prospect on the whole-spacecraft isolation.
