Abstract A new technique of excreta collection in the true metabolizable energy bioassay is described. Excreta are collected in a plastic bag tied to a padded metal ring held in place by a harness. With this method it is possible to collect quantitatively the excreta free from contaminants. The excreta can be oven-dried directly within the plastic bag.
