Vitellogenin derived from the blood of estrogen-treatedXenopus laevisis comprised of at least 3 different polypeptides, designated α-, β-, and γ-vitellogenin. The molecular weights of the three polypeptides are 197,000, 188, 000 and 182, 000, respectively, and the ratio of their relative amounts is approximately 2α: 2β: 1γ.
