Resonance-Enhanced Multi-Photon Ionization (REMPI) with W-laser radiation offers the possibility of species selective ionization. The combination of REMPI and time-of-flight mass spectrometry (resonance-enhanced laser mass spectrometry or LAMS) represents a useful tool for selective detection of trace quantities of organic compounds out of complex matrices.
