This book offers a pleasant reading in its two versions: the hardcover and the e-book. The general structure includes a detailed content index, a glossary at the end that widens the readers’ spectrum, reaching advance students, and graduates on related disciplines, and a thematic index to make quick consults. This book is a part of the series Topics in Paleobiology, as it is promoted in the Foreword, written by the Editor of this collection. Advancing in the reading, in the Preface, the author comments on the current state of knowledge about the Evolution of bids. In this section, Gerald Mayr also tells us about his experience in writing this synthesis, and what we can expect when reading this work. The book is developed along thirteen chapters, which do not need to be read in order to be understood by themselves. Each one begins with an introductory text with trigger questions or with summaries that explain the topics that will be discussed in that section.
