In terms of" competence" as an outcome, these findings must be treated as preliminary.Volumes have been written about the proclivity for abused and neglected children to become delinquent and violent offenders. Indeed, there has been an almost exclusive focus on the" intergenerational transmission of violence" and lack of attention to other potential consequences.
