Lentinula edodes(shiitake), which have a powerful ligninolytic system, is one of the most important edible mushrooms in Asia. In this study, we introduced the manganese peroxidase (MnP, EC 1.11.1.13) gene fromPleurotus ostreatusdriven byL. edodeslaccase 1 gene promoter intoL. edodesfor expression. The resulting transformant expressed the recombinant gene and showed a higher level of MnP activity than that of the wild-type strain.
