The palladium-catalyzed coupling of an aziridinylzinc chloride intermediate with alkenyl and aryl halides has been demonstrated. The method provides products with retention of aziridine stereochemistry. The utility of the coupling procedure is illustrated in the synthesis of structures related tol-furanomycin.
