States, districts and schools are placing an increased emphasis on violence prevention as evidenced by an increase in the percentage of states and districts requiring schools to teach the topic, the percentage of states offering staff development for health education teachers on violence prevention and the percentage of middle/junior and senior high schools requiring students to receive instruction on violence prevention.
