Inspired by the natural trust principle of mankind,a family-gene based model for network authentication, referred to as FBNA,is proposed. The concepts and formal definitions of network-family,family-member,family-gene,and aberrance-gene of the model are presented. Then the bionic mechanisms of gene-assignment and gene-signature are built, and the algorithms of network-family construction and gene-certificate generation are described. Finally, the identity of users and network devices are authenticated through analyzing their gene codes.By using FBNA,the deficiencies of the traditional authentication techniques, such as inferior safety of passwords, high communication traffic of PKI,and ambiguity of X.509 certificates are overcome to a certain degree. Our theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed method is an efficient novel solution to network authentication.
