Abstract A modified adjustment model is developed for the computation of the 7 parameters of the 3D similarity transformation between geodetic reference frames. The model takes into account the varying quality of the coordinates of the control points. Furthermore the model admits the evaluation of the parameters to be done in an arbitrarily chosen local (North,East,Up)-system and the residuals of the control points to be expressed in a separate (North,East,Up)-system for each control point.
