A new method for the analysis of per acid solutions is based upon the use of ceric sulfate as a titrant for the hydrogen peroxide present, followed by an iodometric determination of the per acid present. Data are presented showing the results of analyses of sample per acids by the proposed method compared to the potassium permanganate-thiosulfate method of D’Ans and Frey. The new method gives higher, more reliable values.
