ZP3 is an 83,000 Mr glycoprotein that is found in the extracellular coat, or zona pellucida of mouse eggs and that serves as a sperm receptor during fertilization (1-3). ZP3 has a 44,000 Mr polypeptide chain, 3 or 4 complex-type N-linked oligosaccharides, and an undetermined number of 0-linked oligosaccharides (4-6). Recently, we reported the exon-intron organization of the ZP3 gene and the deduced primary structure of the ZP3 polypeptide chain (7). Here, we present the sequence of 10,833 nt at the ZP3 genomic locus of CD-l (Charles River Laboratories) mice (Fig. 1). This sequence includes the entire transcription unit for ZP3 (8,508 nt), as well as 899 and 1426 nt at the 5' and 3' flanking regions, respectively.
