sectrum antibiotic agents were administered intravenously during the operation. The wound was closed, and subsequently healed without complications. The patient later returned to the bay where he had been injured , and managed to spear a stingray of the same type and size as the one by which he had been stung. It was identified as D. kuhlii, the blue-spotted stingray. Its body measured 18 em by 12 em, and the single spine was 3.5 em long. This species is very common in sandy patches among coastal reefs in Milne Bay Province. Pathology report "A fibrofatty connective tissue specimen, including muscle and nerve, was submitted . There is extensive necrosis of muscle and haemorrhages into the fat and muscle tissue. Arteries and veins are patent , but appear to be contracted."
