By making children, either in groups or under the influence of a story, choose certain foods, there can be set up a high degree of social suggestion in the direction of imitating actual or imaginary predecessors. This social influence is dependent upon group formation, identification, and prestige. The influence tends to survive the original social situation, but declines with the passage of time.
