Interior noise level scatter in vehicles with four–cylinder engines can be as high as 10 dB (total) or 15 dB for the second–order component. Samples of sedans and wagons were emulated for scatter and the scatter assessed in terms of structural–acoustic transfer functions. Scatter envelopes for the two body types, which share the same front structure, are virtually interchangeable.
