4. Current glycemic targets depend on the clinical status of patient. Target blood glucose in critically ill patients is 140-180 mg/dL (7.8-10.0 mmol/L). In noncritically ill patients targets are premeal blood glucose< 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L) and random blood glucose< 180 mg/dL (10.0 mmol/L).
