A high performance Auger spectrometer has been constructed with the capability of making high resolution measurements of weak transitions involving valence levels. It has the sensitivity to separate bulk and surface contributions to the Auger spectrum and record the Auger spectra of atoms absorbed at sub-monolayer coverages on surfaces. After a brief description of the instrument some examples of spectra measured with it are presented.
