Two primary modes by which children become socialized are imitation of the behavior of other persons and verbal instructions (Campbell, 1963). Children with learning disabilities might be at a disadvantage in learning by observation of others or by verbal instructions insofar as these children have visual perceputal problems, sequentialization difficulties, auditory perceptual problems, and/or memory deficits. Two studies were designed to investigate whether children with language deficits are more or less prone to imitate the behavior of a model and to determine whether the model's verbal behavior would result in attitudes in these children which are different from those of normal children.
