Naturally occurring earth minerals have potential applications in various fields due to their interesting properties. Study of inorganic geochemistry is much needed for the geological scientists and researchers to identify the elements and compositions of natural minerals, which exist in the earth. Hence, in this chapter, the importance of inorganic geochemistry, existence of various periodic elements, geological minerals in the earth, and their structural difference are discussed. Characterization of the elements and minerals in geology is significant for considering them in practical applications. The sophisticated analytical methods such as powder X‐ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, electron probe micro‐analysis, etc., for the characterization of inorganic or geological minerals are presented. Further, the importance of each technique, sample preparation, and their detection limits are discussed.
