Zinc die casting alloys exhibit a pronounced aging process. This aging is caused by the diffusion and precipitation of the dissolved aluminum in the rich-zinc grain phase and is accelerated by an increase in temperature. In this work, we investigate the effect of temperature and aging in the zinc die casting alloy Zamak 5 by measuring the thermal diffusivity and heat capacity and also considering its micro-structure with the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD).
