The leaves of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni (Compositae), a wild herb of Paraguay, have attracted much attention as a source of natural sweeteners. Besides the major sweet glucoside, stevioside (1),1} several new sweet glycosides named rebaudioside-A (2), etc.2) as well as labdane type diterpenes, jhanol (3), austroinulin (4) and its 6-0-acetate (5)3) have been recently isolated from the leaves. However, no chemical study on the constituents of flowers of this plant has appeared in the literature. The present paper deals with the isolation and the identification of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and a new compound (6), the 7-acetate of 4, from flowers of this plant. The methanolic extract of the flowers was separated into an ether-soluble fraction and a glycoside fraction. The column chromatography of the ether-soluble fraction afforded four crystalline compounds A, B, C and D in yields of 0.04, 0.21, 0.18 and 0.08%, respectively. By
