Infection of both pathogen free and normally reared piglets with pig kidney passaged stocks of virus FS 216/64 produced typical clinical signs of transmissible gastroenteritis with nearly 100% mortality in those under 10 days of age. Recoveries of FS 216/64 were made from the post mortem tissues examined and specific neutralizing antibodies were shown to develop in the sera of survivors.
